BEL AIR, Md. — Frustrated parents and students are calling for schools to reopen their doors.

Protesters gathered at the Board of Education building in Bel Air. They say students are not doing well mentally and being away from teachers.

They are also worried that students will end up behind academically when schools finally do reopen.

"It's time for the kids to go back. This whole virtual learning process even though the teachers have been great, it's still not working. They're not retaining the information. It's just not working..I wish it was, but it's just I mean...It's not working."

Today Maryland's Board of Education voted to encourage school systems to make plans for students to return back to school.
