NORTH EAST, Md. — Maryland State Police have arrested a man on charges that he solicited sex from an undercover trooper posing as a child over the internet.
According to police, the trooper was monitoring an online dating application while posing as a 14-year-old boy in December. Police say 73-year-old Fred Packard initiated a conversation with the goal of soliciting a sexual encounter with the minor.
Packard suggested meeting with the minor on Friday and and was arrested at the scene upon arrival.
Packard is charged with one count of sexual solicitation of a minor. He was taken to the MSP North East Barrack for processing.
