Using x-rays for chemotherapy isn't the only method doctors are using to treat various types of cancers. Proton therapy is a method where the positively charged particles are used to destroy cancer cells.
 
There's a facility in our area where this kind of treatment is performed. Yesterday was the grand opening of the new $200 million dollar Maryland Proton Treatment Center. 
 
We were joined by Dr. William Regine from the University of Maryland Medical Center to discuss the new facility and the therapy itself.
