A new app could be the next powerful weapon in the fight against overdose deaths.
The FDA is holding a contest to create an app that would help overdose victims find the life-saving antidote naloxone.
The app would work like Yelp, but instead of showing nearby restaurants, the app would locate people who can administer naloxone.
According to the CDC, the number of non-professional trained administrators nearly tripled between 2010 and 2014.
The winners of the app competition will receive $40,000.
