Change is never easy for children, and the loss of a loved one can be an especially difficult adjustment for young people to make.
Whether it's a sudden or expected death of a parent, sibling or someone else close, children need special attention to learn how to cope with their loss.
Next month a unique camp is being held, designed to help children explore their grief in a safe environment, with
other kids who are experiencing the same losses they are.
Doreen Horan is the director of the Counseling Center at Stella Maris and helps organize Camp Me Too. She joined ABC2's In Focus to discuss childhood bereavement.
