Usually those who live in rural neighborhoods have to travel a lot farther to get to certain destinations. A new study says those people might not have to travel far if they need a normal operation.
A new study says hospitals in rural areas are pretty good when it comes to common procedures. Researchers from the University of Michigan found the risk of suffering a major complication after surgery was lower at one of these hospitals than a facility in a larger city.
Procedures done at these hospitals usually cost Medicare about $1,400 less than a larger facility.
