New Zika vaccine showing signs of success

Posted

Researchers say a new type of shot to protect people from the Zika virus is showing its first sign of success.

This new vaccine uses Zika genomes reproduced in the lab to force the human body to create Zika-specific antibodies.

The first test worked on mice, and now it's also been successful in all 40 volunteers who got three doses of the vaccine.

Researchers say more testing is still needed before the vaccine is available to the public.
