New study: Almost half of adults in the U.S. have HPV

The National Center for Health Statistics released a new study saying almost half of adults in the United States have the Human Papillomavirus.

According to the study, 42.5 percent of people between ages 18 and 59 had prevalence of genital HPV from 2013-2014.

The infection is now the most commonly sexually transmitted disease in the U.S.

HPV is a cause of cervical cancer in women.
