From pre-op appointments to operating room to post-operative concerns, Elizabeth Aquino gives patients a familiar face before, during, and after their surgery as a Surgical Advanced Practitioner at GBMC.
Aquino first fell in love with the operating room as a nursing student. Her nursing background, surgical experience, and critical judgment allow her to help her patients at every stage of their surgical process and send them home healthier than before.
“I feel like I grew up at GBMC,” Aquino says of her long history with the hospital. She was born there, and her grandfather was one of their first obstetricians. She would visit GBMC with him as a child, and working there was never far from her mind. “They’ve given me amazing opportunities. Everyone here is so supportive.”

She likes to be on her toes, seeing multiple patients and staying in touch with surgeons, pharmacy techs, and other nurses. Her best advice for an overwhelming day? “Prioritize. Take it all in stride.”
