TOWSON, Md. — A soldier made it home just in time to see the birth of his third child.

Private 2nd Class Tyrell Hicks is stationed out of Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.

His expectant wife, Alanna, thought he was supposed to be in training.

But Hicks was able to get leave and headed straight to St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson on Friday.

Upon arriving, hospital Labor and Delivery staff saluted Hicks with an honor walk.

Shortly after, baby Kannon was born, weighing 9 pounds and 6 ounces.

“I prayed and prayed that I’d be here on time,” said Hicks.

WMAR-2 News thanks Private 2nd Class Hicks for his service and congratulates his family on their newest addition.
