BALTIMORE — Barbara Pierce Bush, a global health advocate and the daughter of former President George W. Bush, will deliver the keynote address at the 2019 Commencement Ceremony at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, the school announced Monday.

Bush is the co-founder of Global Health Corps, an organization that utilizes young leaders around the world to build local advocacy for health equity. Since 2009, the nonprofit has “fostered more than 1,000 young leaders who believe health is a human right and who take an innovative approach to solving some of the world’s biggest global health challenges,” the school said.

Commencement ceremonies will take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 16 at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore. More than 2,000 students will be honored as they earn degrees in medicine, law, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, social work, and biomedical, healthy, and human services.
