A new report claims the D.C. police department abused some of its power when protesters on Inauguration Day encountered police.

The Office of Police Complaints in Washington, D.C. released a report calling for an independent consultant to investigate potential violations.

Monday night, the police department released a statement defending the officers' actions, calling them "reasonable decisions."

More than 200 people were arrested during the protests on Inauguration Day.
