A Silver Spring, Md. man pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of human trafficking stemming from his arrest in a Laurel, Md. hotel last fall.

Kevin Oswald Joseph, 37, was sentenced to 10 years in prison with five years suspended. Detectives were tipped that an advertisement on Backpage.com, a website notorious for its use in the sex industry, was offering sexual services with a woman at a motel at the 9700 block of Washington Blvd.

Police responded to the hotel on Nov. 9, 2017 and found two female victims who said Joseph transported them to Pennsylvania and New York to engage in prostitution. Joseph was arrested shortly thereafter returning to the hotel. The cellphone used to place the ad, along with $4,565 in cash were discovered during the arrest.

The two women were offered support services.
