A former Howard County schoolteacher has been sentenced to a year in jail after being convicted of a sex offense involving a 14-year-old boy prosecutors say he met online.

Thirty-seven-year-old Christopher Fox of Randallstown pleaded not guilty with an agreed statement of facts in October, according to a news release from the State's Attorney's Office.

Prosecutors say on July 10, 2014, Fox posed as a 16-year-old boy and set up a meeting with the 14-year-old. The 14-year-old told police he was surprised to see Fox was much older when they met but eventually had sex with him.

The boy called police afterward.
