A 12-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a playground fire at Dickinson Park in Howard County Sunday.
Police and fire crews responded to the blaze in the 7400 block of Eden Brook Drive at 3:33 p.m. and found the boy on the scene.
Investigators identified and charged the juvenile with malicious destruction of property.
Howard County Government officials said Monday that a portion of the playground damaged during the fire has been closed to the public. No word yet on when it will reopen.
The Howard County Fire Department estimates $10,000 in damages.
The boy was released to his parents and the incident is still under investigation.
