HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. — A toddler taken to the hospital after a "medical emergency" a week ago has died, and now police say her death may be connected to child abuse.

On Monday, January 7, emergency crews were called to the 600 block of Green Street after a medical emergency, or cardiac arrest call, was made for two-year-old Aubrey Hickman. Multiple crews responded and began giving medical support.

Aubrey was then flown to the Johns Hopkins Children's Hospital Emergency Department because of the seriousness of her condition.

Havre De Grace Officers who first responded to the scene say they noticed signs of injury on Aubrey, so they asked their criminal investigations team to respond. Upon arrival, detectives began looking into possible child abuse.

On Friday Aubrey died at the hospital. Her body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office where they determined her death was a homicide.

Havre De Grace Detectives are continuing to investigate the toddler's death, and believe that this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public.
