Harford County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man they believe used flowers to get inside a retirement community and rob residents there.
Investigators say the burglar hit The Brightview Avondale facility Friday. Four separate residents were robbed and the suspect got away with about $100,000 in valuables.
"When they got down there they started talking to residents of the facility and they found out that four different rooms had been burglarized," said Major William Davis of the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Video from the facility released by the sheriff's office shows the suspect casually walking in carrying flowers, but this was no petty theft.
"Someone came in from outside and went inside and stole property to the tune of about $87,000-$100,000," Davis said.
Those that run the facility say they have state of the art security and this is not something that happens on their property.
Investigators think the man in the video may have used the flowers as a cover to gain access.
"He walks into the facility we believe that it's possibly a rouse that people would think that he belonged and that he was going to visit somebody, carrying flowers to take to his loved one," said Davis.
As detectives search for their victim, they're urging people to be more aware.
"This is a message we put out for everyone no matter where they live that if you have valuables you should keep them locked because you never know what can happen."
Harford County officials are looking into this at this time they're also asking for the public's help in trying to find their suspect. Metro Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,000 reward, anyone with information is asked to call police.
