A man known to carry illegal firearms was arrested in Aberdeen after he led police on a foot chase on Tuesday.

Officers originally were responding to a traffic complaint near the CSX tracks at W. Bel Air Avenue and Law Street when they saw Ramone Armstrong walking in the area.

Once Armstrong saw police, he immediately turned around and began to walk the other way. The officer on the scene also saw Armstrong grab the front of his waistband, which he recognized as a characteristic of an armed person.

The officer was able to stop Armstrong, but he adjusted his waistband again and then ran away. Armstrong was found in the 100 block of W. Bel Air Ave and officers recovered a .22 caliber Jennings handgun.

Officers had received a photograph of Armstrong displaying a nearly identical handgun as the one seized on a social media post prior to the incident.

Armstrong was arrested and taken tot he Harford County Detention Center.
