A 19-year-old man suffered severe knife wounds when he was stabbed while trying to break up a fight on New County Road in Aberdeen, Md.
Aberdeen police responded to New Country Road for a reported stabbing around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Officers didn't find a victim, but they spotted evidence of blood on the scene and determined the victim was transported by someone to Harford Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators went to the hospital and found the victim suffering from knife wounds to his ribcage and sternum. The injuries were determined to be severe enough that the man was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma center in Baltimore.
Before being moved, the man told police he was trying to break up a fight between a man and a woman. He said someone else who was present at the fight was mad over his intervention, leading to an altercation between the stabbing victim and this third party.
Police developed Devin Jerrod Taylor, 22, as a suspect after he was located suffering from a cutting wound to his hand and seeking treatment at University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Hospital in Bel Air. Taylor was arrested and transported to Harford County Detention Center where he faces attempted murder and other charges.
