Man sentenced for murder of 2 month old niece

Posted
A Harford County man was sentenced to serve 33 years in prison for the first-degree murder of his 2-month-old niece. A judge imposed a life sentence all but thirty three years suspended.

On April 18, 2013, 22-year-old Colin Wolf was asked to watch the two-month-old, Aubree Roberts, at his home in Bel Air while his mother and sister drove to Edgewood.

An investigation revealed that Wolf was angry with his sister, Aubree Roberts' mother, for having the baby with her her boyfriend, whom Wolf claims he didn't like. That evening the defendant sprayed cologne in the baby's mouth and then punched her in the face, resulting in brain hemorrhage and her death soon after.

Wolf fled the scene just as his mother arrived home and discovered the baby bleeding and bruised. Police apprehended him a short time later. According to police, he admitted to punching Aubree because he didn't want his sister to have the child, saying that she did not deserve her.

Wolf had been previously been deemed incompetent to stand trial due to his mental disabilities, but was recently evaluated and found to be competent. Police say he has a long documented history of  mental issues relating to learning disabilities, ADHD and anger issues.
