The body of a man was found under a bridge on the Eastern Shore shortly after midnight, Maryland State Police said.

At about 12:15 a.m., two people traveling in a boat along Herring Creek  in Worcester County came upon the body floating face down under the Herring Creek Bridge. The boaters called 911 after bringing the body to shore.

The man was declared dead at the scene. He was identified Thursday as 49-year-old Ronald Jones, Jr.

According to the police, an early investigation does not show signs of foul play.

The man was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy. The incident remains under investigation.
