A 33-year-old Georgia man was arrested Thursday evening following a I-95 road rage incident in Perryville.

Shorty after 4:30 p.m. officers with Maryland State Police responded to Interstate 95 northbound near Rt.22 in Harford County after reports of a driver involved in a road rage incident.

Troopers at the scene said a female driver called 911 after an unfriendly encounter with a man who pulled up near her vehicle and pointed a gun at her.

Officials say that the female driver was traveling with her two small children and her mother during the incident.

State troopers who responded to the scene quickly located and arrested Ashanti A.S. Smalls, 33, of Georgia during a traffic stop on Rt. 22.

Smalls was charged with first degree assault, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm, firearms use/felon-violent crime, illegal possession of a regulated firearm with a felony conviction.

After investigation, State police found the suspect did not have a permit to carry a gun in Maryland and was not allowed to carry a concealed weapon because of Georgia felony convictions.

Smalls was taken to the Cecil County Detention Center central booking after his arrest.
