Sheriff's deputy deploys taser on 9-year-old autistic boy armed with knife

Deputy deploys taser on 9-year-old autistic boy armed with kitchen knives in Carroll County Wednesday. 

At 8:39 p.m. deputies responded to the a Finksburg address for a reported out-of-control boy. 

The sheriff's office said the caller, the boy's mother told an emergency dispatcher  she locked herself in an upstairs bathroom and that her son was holding several kitchen knives.

Shortly after the call, a Crisis Intervention Team crew arrived on scene and attempted to assist the responding deputies in diffusing the situation. 

According to the sheriff's office, the boy approached two deputies wielding two 12-inch knifes before one of the deputies discharged a less-lethal taser on him. 

The juvenile was quickly taken into custody and transported to Carroll Hospital center for both a medical and mental health evaluation.

The Carroll County Sheriff's office is assisting the family with resources at this time.
