Police are searching for a suspect involved in the robbery of a 86-year-old woman in Sykesville Wednesday.
Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 5200 block of Equestrian Drive around 1:45 p.m. for a home invasion robbery report.
Deputies found two victims—an elderly woman and her 60-year-old son—who said a man knocked on their door around 1 p.m.
The woman answered the door and then called down to the basement for her son to come upstairs and speak with the suspect, police said.
When the son came to the door, the suspect had put on a mask and had a gun. Deputies said he claimed to be looking for someone the residents didn’t know and demanded money.
The suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money and other property.
He’s described as a white man approximately 6 feet tall, 220 pounds and 30 to 40 years old. We was seen wearing a black or dark colored T-shirt, a black knit mask covering his head and mouth area, possibly wearing brown work shoes or boots and a gray book bag.
Deputies said a suspicious dark colored, older model Ford F150 was observed in the area, but it hasn’t been confirmed as the suspect's car.
Howard County Police Department K9 Units assisted Deputies in a search of the area for the suspect, but the search was unsuccessful.
The incident is still under investigation.
