A student was robbed at knifepoint on the University of Maryland, Baltimore County campus Tuesday night, the school announced in a statement.

While the male student walked to his car, he was approached by two suspects, one of whom had a knife, at about 10 p.m. The suspects were described as two men in their early to mid-twenties, one roughly 6 feet tall with a deep voice, the other roughly 5 feet, 8 inches tall. Both were wearing black hooded sweatshirts. After the robbery, the men fled towards Commons Garage.

Anyone with information about the incident or the suspects should contact UMBC Police at 410-455-5555.

UMBC reminded students that campus police can provide escort service to anyone who feels unsafe when walking on or near campus. Security escorts can be arranged by calling 410-455-5555.

“Trust your instincts,” the school said in a statement shared with students. “They are a natural gift that tells you when something is wrong. See Something, Say Something! Be Smart, Be Safe!”
