Two brothers sentenced to 40 years for 2018 Towson murders

TOWSON, Md. — Two people were sentenced to 40 years on Thursday for the murders of Stanley Brunson Jr. and Shameek Joyner.

Norwood Johnson, 31, and Nyghee Johnson, 23, were each sentenced yesterday in the Baltimore County Circuit Court.

On, April 8, 2018, Norwood and Nyghee, whom are brothers, went to 20 Lambourne Road Apartments in Towson, Maryland with 21 pounds of marijuana and the intention to sell the drugs to Brunson, Jr. and Joyner.

During the transaction, Mr. Brunson, Jr. and Mr. Joyner were killed.

Following an investigation, police recovered drugs, a shotgun, ammunition and a bullet proof vest from the apartment of the Johnsons. The defendants were also linked to a residence where the police recovered 167 pounds of marijuana and an arsenal of firearms including an AK-47.

The Johnson brothers had been tried and convicted by a jury of two counts of Second Degree murder, conspiracy to distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance on February 11.
