Suspect charged in January double shooting in Essex

Baltimore County Police detectives have charged a suspect in connection with a January homicide in Essex.

On January 26 just before 2 a.m., Baltimore County Police and Fire crews responded to the unit block of Valley Arbor Court for a shooting report. Officers arrived to find two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

Both were taken to area hospitals where one man, identified as 25-year-old Antonio David Truesdale of the 1100 block of Sandstone Road, died.The other victim was treated at an area hospital and later released.

The initial investigation indicated that Truesdale and another man were involved in an interaction with two male suspects, when at least one of the suspects shot both men.

Detectives identified 21-year-old Sadiq Torrez Heyward as the person responsible for this crime. Heyward has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

This incident is still under investigation by the Baltimore County Police Homicide Unit.

Detectives are continue working to identify the second suspect
