A female police officer was injured in a police-involved shooting in Dundalk. The officer was transported to Shock Trauma and is in serious condition.

A civilian was also shot in the crossfire. Police say her injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Police responded to the area of Belclare Avenue and Dundalk Avenue just before 3 p.m. Wednesday for a robbery in progress.

According to police, the suspect fled onto a MTA bus. The bus went a short distance before being stopped by Baltimore County Police.

"At some point during that engagement the suspect fired at officers," said Baltimore County Police Spokesperson Jen Peach, "The officers returned fire and shot the suspect."

The suspect fled the bus and died at the scene.

Witness Carol Brooks lives a few houses down from where the suspect was killed. She says she heard over a dozen gunshots from her porch.

"It was like something you see on television, like the OK Corral or something like that," she said.

She says her thoughts are now with the officers who confronted the suspect, especially the woman who was wounded.

"If it's the girl that got shot, I pray for her that she'll get well," she says, "because she was a brave soul."

Police are unsure if the civilian victim was a passenger on the MTA bus. Police say that footage from officer body cameras and the MTA bus will be used in the investigation.
