An Essex man was killed in a hit-and-run as he helped his mother across the street early Monday morning.
Police said Kyle Marshall, 23, was crossing the intersection of Stemmers Run Road and Eastern Boulevard with his mother around 12:50 a.m. when he was hit by what police described as a purple Hyundai Elantra or similar vehicle. The car made no attempt to stop and took off east on Eastern Avenue. His mother was not hurt.
"Thank goodness that the mother was not struck or injured at the time of the crash but to see this happen, to see this unfold right in front of her i'm sure is devastating to her." Jennifer Peach, Public Information Officer for the Baltimore County Police Department, told ABC2.
Emergency personnel pronounced Marshall dead at the scene.
"This is something that we really want to make sure that we solve for her," said Peach.
Neighbors said Marshall was a good person, never got in trouble and didn't deserve this fate.
Police said the vehicle may have damage on the front driver side, including a broken out headlamp and front side tag light, a portion of the front driver side bumper damaged or torn off, and possible damage to the front grill area and windshield.
Peach says the car could also have smashed lights or dents in the hood area of the vehicle.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 410-307-2020.
