A Baltimore County grand jury indicted Hursey in the double homicide in May. The Howard County incident took place after the estranged couple had a vehicle appraised at the CarMax on Baltimore National Pike on February 25, 2017.

The Assistant State's Attorney said the two argued inside the dealership before heading home where the assault occurred. Eyewitnesses reported that Hursey grabbed his ex-wife by the throat and pushed her up against a car.

Chinika had obtained a protective order against her former husband after the incident. Hursey appeared in court without defense counsel. He denied choking his former wife.

Hursey was sentenced to a one-year suspended sentence and one year of supervised probation. He ramins without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center awaiting trial on the double homicide.
