BALTIMORE — A 21-year-old woman died after being shot in the head in the city’s Barclay neighborhood Wednesday night.

Police responded to the 300 block of E. 22nd Street at about 9:34 p.m. after an alert from Shot Spotter. Officers arrived to find a crime scene but no victim. Police were then called to an area hospital for the report of a walk-in shooting victim.

At the hospital, officers found a woman identified as Kaylin High suffering from a gunshot wound to her head. She was taken into surgery where she died, police said.

Homicide detectives are investigating. Anyone with information should contact police at 410-396-2100 or call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.

The homicide was the third shooting death of the evening, with four total people being shot in fewer than two hours, occurring in three separate incidents across the city.

The violence is alarming, yet still not as bloody as last week, when 14 people were shot, with five being killed, in nine incidents elapsing in fewer than 24 hours.
