Two shot half mile away from quadruple shooting less than 24 hours earlier

BALTIMORE — Less than 24 hours after a quadruple shooting half a mile away, two more people were shot Sunday night in Southeast Baltimore's McElderry Park neighborhood.

Police say they received a shot spotter alert just before 8:30 p.m. in the 400 block of N. Montford Avenue.

Upon their arrival, officers found two adult victims, a male and female, each with gunshot wounds to the body. The man was expected to survive.

The woman, later identified as 19-year-old Jennifer Velasquez, died at the hospital the following day. The

Homicide unit detectives are currently investigating.

The incident comes a day after four people, including a teen, were shot in the 500 block of Belnord Avenue.

So far this weekend, two people have been killed, and six others have been injured from gunfire in four separate incidents throughout the city.
