Two men shot and killed in Baltimore Tuesday

A violent weekend has extended into the week that followed, as two more men are dead from shootings in Baltimore Tuesday.

Patrol officers in the Northern District responded to the 2400 block of West Garrison Avenue for a reported shooting at 2:49 a.m., Baltimore Police said.

There they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The man was later identified as 18-year-old Jeffrey Allen Shields, of the 5000 block of Cordelia Avenue.

At about 3:15 p.m., officers were sent to the rear of the 500 block of West Hoffman Street for a reported shooting. Police found a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his body when they responded. The man was taken to a hospital where he died from his injuries. The man was later identified as Markise Jackson.

Three men were shot, two fatally, Monday. That followed a weekend where 12 people were shot, four fatally, over the weekend. The city has had 147 homicides so far in 2018.
