Police have arrested a man charged with robbing the same convenience store twice.
On October 30, 2016 a man attempted to rob a convenience store in the 500 block of S. Broadway Street. The suspect demanded that the employee open the register. He also threatened to shoot the employee.
The victim attempted to comply, but the suspect grew impatient and fled the scene on foot. Eric Chapman, 19, was arrested and charged with attempted robbery.
He spent eight months in jail waiting for a trial. As a result of a guilty disposition on the charge of robbery, Chapman was given a two-year sentence, with all but eight months (time served) suspended and two years of supervised probation. He was released from jail on June 6, 2017.
Less than three weeks later, on June 26, Chapman attempted to rob the Broadway Street convenience store again.
The victim said when Chapman entered the store, he handed him a pink note, telling him to open the cash register or he would shoot him. The employee was able to activate the panic alarm and the suspect fled the scene.
Officers were able to positively identify Chapman and obtain an arrest warrant. The suspect remains at large. He is wanted for armed robbery, assault and attempted use of a firearm.
