Federal Hill residents have seen more than their fair share of crime over the last few weeks. Earlier this month, several armed robberies were reported, now police are searching for a man who broken into two houses on the same street Sunday.
"They're obvious and they seem very certain of what they do," said Michael Off, a Federal Hill resident. "We've seen a little bit of an increased police presence but not what we'd like to see."
The break-ins happened in the 1400 and 1200 block of Riverside Avenue. According to police, the suspect burglarized the first home at approximately 1:20 p.m. then the second around 3:30 p.m.
"He's brazen, he walked into their home and walked out and encountered the occupants of the house and he questioned him to see why he was there and he just continued to walk," Detective Nicole Monroe of the Baltimore Police Department said.
The owner of the first burglarized home managed to get a picture of the suspect. Now, some people who live in the area are taking extra precautions as police try to track down the suspect.
"I'm trying to be a little more cautious, especially if you've been out imbibing a little bit, you might be a little more cautious when you leave and walk home, I usually try to walk home with somebody," said Wayne Haskell.
Police are now relying on the public to identify the suspect. Anyone with information should call Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP.
