Police arrested a rape suspect at the scene of the assault in East Baltimore, police said.
Around 3 a.m. Thursday officers responded to the 400 block of Old Town Mall for a report of a possible rape.
Responding officers found a distraught woman running, waving and screaming for help. They also saw a man running from the location.
Police caught the man in the 400 block of Exeter Street and found a knife in his pocket.
An investigation revealed the woman was walking in the 400 block of Old Town Mall when the suspect forced her into a vacant building at knifepoint.
The victim was taken to Mercy Hospital while officers arrested and interviewed the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Eron Johnson, was charged with rape, sex offenses and assault.
He is being held at Central Booking.
