Police have arrested a man for attempted murder after they say he shot a person when a drug deal went bad in West Baltimore.

On March 16, officers stopped a car in the 2700 block of Harlem Avenue for erratic driving.

The driver of the vehicle told police he was on Claymont Avenue attempting to purchase marijuana when the transaction went bad.  The dealer pulled out a gun and shot at the driver, grazing his hat with a bullet as the driver sped away, police said.

Detectives investigated the incident and were able to identify 30-year-old Jawan Armstrong as the suspect.

After receiving several tips of locations where Armstrong might be found, the Warrant Apprehension Task Force arrested him in the 9600 block of Orpin Road.

Armstrong is currently being held at the central booking facility without bail, and has been charged with first degree attempted murder, police said.
