A woman was killed in a car crash near the intersection of Bloom and Etting streets Thursday afternoon.

The victim was a passenger in a minivan, which did not stop as officers attempted to pull it over for a traffic violation, police said.

Police said they attempted to stop the minivan in the 400 block of Gold Street. The driver refused to stop for officers and left the area. The minivan then struck an occupied vehicle and a parked vehicle.

The driver of the minivan was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A person from the second vehicle was also transported to an area hospital.

Bloom and Etting Streets were shutdown for several hours as detectives pieced together what happened.

"I was sleeping in my bedroom and I heard a big crash," said Kim Tate who lives close to the crash site.

"When I went down in my basement, my window was knocked in, bricks were all over my water tank so I had to shut the gas off," she continued.

Tate isn't sure when she can return home. Police are still investigating the incident.
