A Pennsylvania man was arrested at Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) early Friday morning.
TSA officers caught the man carrying the handgun at a security checkpoint, the 9mm handgun was unloaded in his carry-on bag with a magazine loaded with six bullets.
According to the officers, the gun was found after the suspect entered the checkpoint and placed his bag on the x-ray conveyor belt.
Maryland Transit Authority police responded to the checkpoint, obtained the firearm and arrested the man on weapons charges.
This incident marks the 14th firearm that has been detected at BWI Airport so far this year. In 2016 alone there were a total of 24 firearms found, officers said.
