Officers arrest suspect wanted in April 6 homicide

Police have located and arrested the man that was responsible for a homicide that happened on April 6.

At a little after 11:15 p.m., Southeast District officers were called to the 2300 block of Jefferson Street because of a shooting. The officers found Tavon Miles, 38, lying on the sidewalk suffering from gunshot wounds. Miles was transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital for treatment, but still ended up dying of his injuries.

Homicide detectives were called and were able to identify and get an arrest warrant for the suspect.

So, on Thursday, Jonathan Phifer, 32, of the 2000 block of Fayette Street, was arrested and charged with 1st degree murder and some related weapons violations.

Since bail was denied, Phifer will be held until trial.
