A Baltimore mother has been sentenced to 75 years in prison.

In 2017 Anne Kirsch was convicted of manslaughter and child abuse in the 2015 death of her son.

Matthew Kirsch Jr. was born on October 11, 2015 in an auto repair shop where Mrs. Kirsch worked. On October 20, 2015, paramedics responded to an address on Groveland Avenue, where they found the newborn infant unresponsive. Matthew Kirsch Jr. was pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital, at just nine days old.

Kirsch told investigators she used heroin during her pregnancy and the day before her sons death.

Authorities say the child was likely born with a heroin addiction, suffering from severe withdrawal.

The Medical Examiner ruled the newborn's death a homicide caused by neglect and abuse.

An autopsy revealed the infant had suffered from blunt force trauma consistent with his head slamming against a flat surface, causing a traumatic brain injury. It was also found Matthew's stomach content was empty with no indication of nutrition in the digestive track.

Early, the child's father Matthew Kirsch Sr. pled guilty on child abuse charges. He was sentenced to 25 years with all but 15 suspended.

Anne Kirsch will be required to spend 30 years behind bars with the remaining 45 suspended.
