A Baltimore man is federally indicted for possessing a firearm that discharged, striking and injuring a police officer that was trying to place him into custody.
On Thursday, a Baltimore Grand Jury charged 35-year-old Allen Johnson on multiple drug and gun crimes.
It was November 29, 2017, when Baltimore Police officers responded to the 800 block of Bridgeview Avenue, on information that Johnson was at the location armed with a gun in his waistband.
Upon locating Johnson, officers approached at which time Johnson turned away and reached for his waist band.
Other officers on scene deployed a taser, subduing Johnson and placing him under arrest. In addition to the firearm, units recovered numerous vials of narcotics.
The injured officer was treated at an area hospital.
Members of the United States Attorneys Office, ATF, and Baltimore Police Department conducted the investigation, and announced the indictment.
