A man now faces a potential maximum 65-year prison sentence after being convicted of second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a crime of violence, and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, in the 2017 murder of Troy Horton Jr.
Shortly before midnight on May 30, 2017, police responded to a residence on the 1700 block of Ruxton Avenue for the report of a shooting and a potential homicide. Officers discovered Horton lying on a bed in a second floor bedroom suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to Shock Trauma where he was pronounced dead.
Police located witnesses who said Miguel Duke visited the residence on the night of the murder and went to the second floor. Duke was the reportedly the only person with Horton when he was killed. Police learned that Horton was dating Duke's mother, fueling an on going feud.
Duke is schedule for sentencing on July 6, 2018.
