Baltimore Police are investigating a shooting that took place Saturday night in Canton.

Police say they were called to the 3400 block of Harmony Court around 9:15 p.m. for reports of gunfire in the area. Officers canvassed the area and found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was transported to University of Maryland Shock Trauma, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. He was likely targeted by his attacker, according to Baltimore City Police Detective Donny Moses.

"The victim in this case is no stranger to police. He had a lot of money on him. We knew it wasn’t a robbery because of the amount of money that he had left on him," Moses said.

It's the 2nd homicide of the year in a neighborhood that rarely sees violent crime, according to police. Some neighbors we spoke with believe the area is getting more dangerous.

"Its especially concerning in this area where most people get along, and most people are very happy to be here and happy to live here," said resident Marisa Lightkep.

Police have not yet identified the victim.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Baltimore Police Department's Homicide Section at 410-396-2100.
