The man arrested and charged with the murder of Tonja Chadwick was stabbed in his jail cell, officials said.
Marco Holmes, 22, told medical staff he was assaulted in his cell at Central Booking around 8 a.m. Thursday.
He was treated for stab wounds to the head and hands. Holmes did not identify a suspect.
He is facing charges of first and second degree murder, assault and gun charges in connection to the death of 20-year-old mother Tonja Chadwick. Holmes and Chadwick were in a relationship at the time of her death.
Chadwick disappeared on Jan. 28 and her body was found Daisy Park a week later. She leaves behind a 4-year-old son.
