An investigation that started as an assault is now being looked at as a homicide.

On July 22, officers responded to the call for an assault in the unit block of East Cross Street just after 1 a.m.

Once on scene, police discovered an unresponsive man, later identified as Edralin Montebon, 34.

Montebon was taken to a nearby hospital where he died on July 25.

In the initial investigation, detectives determined that the Mr. Montebon was in a physical altercation with acquaintances on the night he was injured.

Now police say they are working to identify a man shown in an area surveillance video from the night of the incident for homicide charges.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to call police or contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7Lockup.
