A man has been sentenced in connection with a triple shooting that left one woman dead and two others injured back in 2014.

Police said DeShawn Richardson has been sentenced to prison for the murder of one woman and the attempted murder of another.

Prosecutors were seeking a life sentence suspend all but 40 years for Richardson.

On March 25, 2014, Baltimore Police responded to the 3800 block of 8th Street where they found Johneice Sheppard shot to death in the front room of the home. Police found another victim suffering from 12 gunshot wounds, and a third victim returned to the home after fleeing the scene with a gunshot wound to the face.

The investigation revealed that Richardson entered the home with an accomplice, Laser Womack, demanding drugs. The victims were held at gunpoint and told the men where they thought the drugs were located in the home, but the drugs weren't found.

According to police, Womack went upstairs to see if there was anyone else inside the home, and returned to find the victims shot multiple times.

Womack was sentenced in May to 80 years suspend all but 40 years for three counts of second-degree murder.

“Murderers do not belong on the streets of Baltimore and I am glad we have one less killer in our community," State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby said in a news release.

Richardson is scheduled for sentencing on August 10.
