An investigation is underway after a suspicious package is found inside a Circuit Courthouse.

At 5:40 p.m., the Baltimore City Fire Department responded to The Clarence Mitchell Courthouse located at 100 N. Calvert Street for a report of a suspicious package.

Hazmat teams reportedly located the package in question, and conducted tests which came back negative for hazardous materials. No injuries were sustained.

The package was confiscated and will undergo further testing.

According to Chief Roman Clark with the Baltimore City Fire Department, the package was sent via USPS from a return address of an individual currently incarcerated. Investigators are working on obtaining further information on the origin of the package. Clark added as of late, multiple suspicious packages have turned up throughout the surrounding areas, where in some cases talcum powder was detected.

It's unclear if this particular case at the courthouse is related to the other incidents.
