BARCS Animal Shelter in Baltimore is seeking donations to help a 1-month-old kitten who was badly burned.

"Who would burn off a kitten’s ears? We’ve been asking ourselves this question over and over. All of the scenarios, all of the questions and ANY of the answers make us simply sick to our stomachs," BARCS volunteers wrote in a Facebook post Thursday.

Duckie, a stray kitten, was found nearly lifeless on a window sill. The pads on her feet were burned, her ears were freshly burned from the tips down and her whiskers were singed.

Because she had minimal injuries on the rest of her body, BARCS' veterinarian believed she was hurt intentionally.

BARCS is seeking donations to its medical fund to care for Duckie. Click here to contribute.

Baltimore City Animal Control and Baltimore Police have an open investigation on the case. Anyone with information should call 410-396-2400, 911 or 311.
