Community on edge as police investigate two homicides within a few blocks

In an apartment home with Christmas lights up ready to spread holiday cheer, tragedy hit around 1:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.

On the 1100 block of East 43rd Street, a 27-year-old-man was found shot in the stomach clinging to life.

Police say he died in the hospital, and that he had a handgun on him.

Seeing police roaming their street, cleaning off handguns involved in deadly shootings is not something people who live there are used to. Many people are concerned because some of those homes are occupied by elderly people who live alone.

While neighbors watched the tape go up, officers found out another shooting victim was inside a home just a few blocks away.

Police were waiting outside a home on Midwood Avenue where a man was shot in the chest. They said he too would die at the hospital.

A woman who lives nearby says crimes like these have her ready to take her grandchildren and leave the neighborhood they grew up in. A night filled with red and blue lights, and now a community wondering if things will continue to get worse.

If you have any information on these shootings call detectives at 410-396-2100 or Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-LOCKUP.
